Tyler Dunham

Special Counsel

Tyler Dunham is a Special Counsel with C. Tumey Law Group.  With over sixteen years of experience as a practicing Patent Attorney, Mr. Dunham is passionate about helping inventors and corporations protect their technology and brands all over the globe.  With a strong background in mechanical/electrical engineering development and product design, he is very familiar with each stage of the development process to effectively allocate resources for the strongest patent protection during each stage of development as well as years after its release.

Prior to his legal career, his engineering experience includes designing and testing of various products including automotive safety systems, kitchen appliances, commercial hygiene, medical devices, gas powered generators, both for large corporations as well as smaller engineering design/manufacturing firms. His experience includes technical 3D drafting, tooling design, manufacturing/assembly plans, drafting install guides and manuals, quality control, and the overall design and testing of various products to meet design requirements.

Mr. Dunham’s responsibilities include all matters related to patents and trademarks, including prosecution, searching, opinions, and enforcement, both in the USA and foreign countries.  He is also responsible for licensing deals, analysis of portfolios, and due diligence projects.  He also works with engineering teams on design-arounds, evaluates early-stage technology, and prepares co-development agreements for two or more parties to develop technology collaboratively.  Mr. Dunham also has experience drafting confidentiality agreements, counseling related to FDA approval/regulations of medical devices, copyright disputes and registrations, and advising clients on proper trademark usage.
